Palanpur: Nutrition enhancement programme ‘Sampoorna’ (meaning complete or whole) for adolescent girls in Gujarat was launched at Kanubhai Mehta hall in Palanpur on Tuesday. ‘Sampoorna’ aims to encourage behavioural change regarding proper dietary practices, and help improve nutrition quotient, while also empowering the girls with livelihood capabilities.

The organizers, PepsiCo and Smile Foundation aims at help 1,000 girls living in backward region of Banaskantha district.

Under the programme a recipe of ‘laddoo’ has been developed using locally available ingredients like jaggery, sesame seeds and maize flour.

The programme has been designed as a model for addressing the prevalence of anaemia among girls.
